Martina Hausman, Registered Massage Therapist (RMT)
Hi, my name is Martina Hausman and I am a Registered Massage
Therapist (RMT) at the Naturopathic and Allergy Clinic. I
graduated from Kikkawa College in 2001, and prior to that I
attended McMaster University and obtained a 4 year Honors
Psychology Degree. Since I became an RMT I have received
certificates in Massage for Pregnancy, Labor & Birth, Reiki
level 1 and Sports Massage.
I really enjoy working at a multi-disciplinary clinic because I
know that clients get the best treatment options for their
ailments. If a client needs more than one type of treatment,
which is often the case, we are able to supply them with all the
information and options of treatments in order for them to make
an informed decision on their health-care.
I believe the more one understands about their own body, the
better choices they will make on caring for it. We are here to
teach them and guide them to a healthier lifestyle. We, as a
clinic, are unique in that we are all familiar with each others
practice and are able to advise clients on the best form of
treatment for them.
Being a Massage Therapist, I have come to realize that many people
don’t know all that it entails. Massage Therapy is the
manipulation of soft tissue and joints and is not just for
relaxation. As well, Massage Therapy does not only deal with
muscular issues.
Many clients require Lymphatic Drainage. That is, stimulating
the lymphatic system (which is our waste removal system) and
encouraging it to drain the body of waste materials more
efficiently. As well, there are individuals with digestive
problems who are surprised to hear that massage therapy can help
a great deal with regulating bowl movements.
Pregnant women can benefit as well all the way up to weeks/days
before their due date. This can make for an easier pregnancy and
delivery. It is safe and comes highly recommended. As well,
after labor, why not try baby massage? As you can see, there is
a lot more to massage therapy than a relaxation treatment.
Massage therapy involves a hands-on manipulation
of the soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective
tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. It is an irreplaceable
therapy that helps to alleviate soft tissue discomfort from
muscle adhesion, occupational stress, muscular veruse, injuries,
chronic pain and motor vehicle injuries. Massage has a
therapeutic effect to improve and maintain health by acting
directly on the muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems.
