Dear Dr. Srajeldin:
I am sending you a thank you note for having seen Joseph on
December 2004 giving as guidance on the correct path in exploring the various
ways to have helped Joseph, my son, with his ADHD problem that we had just
discovered at that time.
Before coming to you, Joseph's pediatrician had diagnosed him
with having ADHD. Joseph displayed characteristics of a typical ADHD child with
impulsive actions, lack of focus and concentration, always appearing to stare
off daydreaming in a world far away. He had very little social skills having had
very few friends at school and constantly arguing with his little twin sisters.
Not only had he been suffering academically and socially but our lifestyle at
home with him was suffering as well. We definitely did not want medicated on
Ritlin or other stimulants due to his one well-functioning kidney.
We have become role-models to other parents in recommending
Dr. Srajeldin to The Ontario Asperger's Society and also the Leaning Disability
Association of Ontario parenting meetings and groups to further support LD,
ADHD, or Asperger children with their social and academic growth.
From the start when we came to your office and you saw Joseph,
you made him feel very comfortable and at ease when you spoke to him and tried
to get certain information, feelings and reasoning out of him. We thank you for
having encouraged us not to have taken Ritlin or other medications for ADHD. You
put Joseph on a special diet trying to detox him at first from any impurities in
his system that may have contributed to his hyperactivity and inattentiveness.
We were very happy to have taken the allergy blood test to rule out any food
allergies that may have also contributed to his ADHD. Conclusively, we were
surprised and also happy to know that Joseph did not have a food allergy and
decided to still continue your recommended diet since Joseph would not eat any
vegetables and fruits except for pastas, breads and chicken. Thanks to you Dr.
Srajeldin, he has improved his eating habits. Before having come to you, he did
have a cholesterol problem and ever since has had no cholesterol due to the fact
that we taught him with the assistance of the nutritionalist how to read labels
and stick to your healthy diet. Being now almost 10 years old he realizes at
this early age how he is preventing himself from getting a stroke or heart
attack from his healthy eating habits with barely any junk food except for on
very special occasions. He is now enjoying low calorie salads, fruits and
vegetables.
Today, with Joseph we are continuing to use your recommended
diet. We are still using enzymes, probiotics and daily vitamins on Joseph. Ever
since we have added flaxseed oil, Omega 3 pills and antioxidants to boost his
thinking neurons in making him more focused. With your diet, recommended enzymes
and all other supplements, Joseph's behaviour and ADHD symptoms have reduced
about 40 % or so. Our next steps are getting Joseph assistive technology to help
him with his literacy and writing skills. He is also taking keyboarding so that
he may be faster in typing out his assignments that are finally legible.
We also wanted to inform you that less than a year ago, Joseph
was also diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. We highly suspected that Joseph had
Asperger's due to his obsessions, fascinations, vast knowledge and high end
vocabulary in certain areas not related to school curriculum. Having joined the
Asperger's society of Ontario to assist Joseph in social skills and us in more
knowledge in his diagnosis, you have been highly recommended to many parents who
have said that they were tired of having their children on medication and have
taken them off but don't know what to do or try next.
As a teacher, I have had many parents with children that are
ADHD or with Autistim Spectrum. Recommendations have been for parents to first
see a naturopath along with a Social Skills intervention class and the
assistance of an Occupational Therapist if necessary. The principal having seen
Joseph's improvement in focusing and behaviour, has highly recommended in
Identification Process meetings with parents and support staff to begin their
path with a Naturopath before going on any recommended medications by
pediatricians or psychologists. We have ever since become role-models to other
parents in recommending you (Dr. Srajeldin) to The Ontario Asperger's Society
and also the Leaning Disability Association of Ontario parenting meetings and
groups to further support LD, ADHD, or Asperger children with their social and
academic growth.
I hope to come visit you soon or have you in the near future do
a presentation/lecture for one of our meetings. Please let me know of any
lectures you will be soon giving at your clinic so that I may highly recommend
them to my school parents, and other associations that I belong to with children
with ADHD or Austism.
Have a healthy and happy new year!
Warm wishes
Josie, Ben and Joseph
