Thai Massage Technique
Thai massage is the manipulation of soft tissue to treat
injuries and pain of both an acute and chronic nature. A Thai massage
treatment combines static stretches and acupressure for a holistic
therapeutic result. Energetically, the focus in Thai massage is to balance
10 major meridian lines to synchronize systematically along the
musculoskeletal anatomy and meridians of the body. Doctors, chiropractors,
naturopaths and physiotherapists prescribe this treatment because it
complements and boosts their therapies.
The practitioner moves the client into yoga inspired, static
stretches while applying compression to the related muscle groups for
increased joint mobility/range of motion. Acupressure and compression
techniques stretch on the connective tissues and muscles by way of thumbs,
hands, elbows, forearms, knees, shins, and feet. Through twisting,
inversions and folds, internal organs are also massaged for vitality.
Thai massage is famous for its powerful strength by using
leverage to an advantage. However each session is catered to the specific
needs of the client; an experienced Practitioner will respect the varied
amount of flexibility of the individual. Clients may experience an intensity
that is invigorating, or relaxing and rejuvenating. Whatever the client's
specific needs may be, Thai massage is always preformed at a slow, rhythmic
pace, that allows the mind to transcend from a hectic lifestyle into a deep,
meditative place.
The total treatment length may vary according to the health
condition being treated. The initial assessment takes approximately one
hour, however, subsequent treatments may last from one hour to two hours for
a full treatment.
