Oral temperature
Oral temperature is an efficient tool that helps assess
several functions in the body such as thyroid function, the menstrual cycle
time and may reveals the approximate time of ovulation.
To take your oral temperature, please apply the following
steps:
- Make several photocopies of this chart to be used in
subsequent months,
- You must read your temperature every single morning
upon rising before you leave your bed,
- Females should start a new page at the start of every
menstrual cycle,
- Use the same thermometer each time for a more accurate
reading,
- Shake your thermometer if you are using a manual one,
and zero your thermometer if you are using a battery-operated
thermometer,
- Keep your thermometer, this chart and a pencil at your
bed side,
- Place the thermometer in your mouth - under your
tongue, for one minute immediately upon waking,
- Indicate, in the “Notes” field, the start of first and
last days of the menstrual cycle,
- Indicate, in the “Date” field, the date when
temperature was taken,
- Should you miss one day, (please try not to miss any
days at all costs), leave that field blank,
- Should you become sick or use any medications, please
make a note in the “Notes” field,
- Should you run out of table space, please use the
reverse side of this page or use a blank page and
- Mail this chart back, or bring it to the clinic so it
can be evaluated.
